I have an 86 suburban that had a rumble as you described. My first thought was the engine but as
it turned out it was the front pass. side inner
bearing race had chatter (visable wear) marks that made
the noise only after I got to fifty mph. It was as noisy as a rumble strip on the side of the highway. If it has a two piece drive shaft you
may want to check the u-joints especially on the
short front shaft and the u-joint at the rearend.
I recomend if you want to check them go thru the
trouble to remove the drive shafts from the truck
and move the u-joints by hand to feel if they move
smooth. if they feel like they catch, even a little, replace them. do not grease them before
this test.
Just a thought.
