Subject: 2002 Chev pickup electrical problem
Message: Is anyone experiencing problems with gauges going dead periodically on newer chev pickups? Are there any Chev service bulletins concerning this? They completely die and when they come back on it appears to go through the entire start sequence. Only things affected are the guages (temps, fuel, oil, rpm)...cruise, turn signals, etc still work.

I've noticed on my 2002 Silverado Duramax that every once in a while, after a startup, my cruise control doesn't work.
I pull over, shut things down, restart and everything is fine again. It has done this about 4 times in 80,000 miles.
I don't know what causes this, just figured it was in the ignition switch. Since it always seems to correct itself, I never worried too much about it. I mentioned this here, on this forum, since it could be a similar problem to shad's guages not working(posted 8/18/03, 00:16:17).

Electrical problems, ha...'02 Silverado 2500HD Ext Cab - Duramax/Allison
I close the driver side extended cab door and all the interior lights, radio, gauages come on. If you start it, it won't shut off or go into gear. The dealer has replaced the body control module, ignition switch and 4X4 transfer case indicator. It's back in the shop for he third time and has been there a week. Anyone have any ideas I could pass to Mr. Goodwrench? So fa it's still under warranty. Thanks in advance...Rod C.
