Subject: Kennedy did 1 good thing

Hey guys and gals,

I am fairly new to this form, having been on it sence the
end of Januray. I'm trying not to be too involved in the
whole "troll" issue. I have noticed some major distane
toward John Kennedy, though, and wanted to share my
personal experience.

Just before coming to this form, I purchased a few items
from Kennedy. Some things were dissapointing but it
wasn't all bad.

One item was the '97+ GM, Hi-flow water pump with
dual thermostats. My truck is a 1993, so the upper
radiator crossover pipe is different and brackets needed
to be made. Yes I realized I paid "more" but I considered
that I was paying for extra knowledge and a bracket for
modifying my throttle and cruise control brackets.

The instructions showed you how to modify the
brackets, but said nothing about what to do with the
air-conditioner idle kickup solenoid (You can't run it, as
it won't fit). Also you need to grind the alternator
bracket, again no mention of it, you are left to just figure
it out after everything is in place.

BUT having said that, Kennedy did replace the upper
radiator crossover pipe, which was cracked when I
installed the first one. I told him that the stock one fit
fine (on the new long block), so he replaced it no
questions asked and I didn't even pay shipping.

I personally feal that <GMDieselTech> is the best source
of information and insparation period, including
Kennedy. I just wanted to share my experience with the
group, with all the bashing going on.

Respectfully,

David M.

1 good thing out of several bad is still bad...

Like you indicate most things from Kennedy=DISAPPOINTMENT, at best. And on the worse end will harm your engine, like that poor sealing crappy foam air filter proven to let dirt through and or around it... then there's the gear drive timing set, proven to create unwanted engine harmonics resulting in harmonic balancer failure, broken crankshafts and cracked engine blocks!!! He had it happen on his own truck a few times!!! (Why do you think he's selling that truck?), and then there's the splayed main caps requiring you to drill holes in an already weak engine block! and the fan clutch that over runs the fan and wears on the engine and water pump shaft and bearing and seriously reduce MPG;
JoKer products doesn't care if these things hurt you or your engine he'll come up with any scam to steal your money...
Hopefully you did not get scammed in to buying that stupid fan clutch?!?!

You should not expect to pay for Shipping to replace a defective bracket, (I guess that was the ONE good thing, not too good a track record...)
but yes, I've heard of him charging to ship for his mistakes and defects tho, and also for not standing behind what he peddles when the numerous problems come up.
What did he do for you about the time you lost??? Did he overnight it???
I doubt it!...

Yep, like you said buying from KD you sure paid "MORE"!
At those prices the parts should already be modified and not just give "instructions" for you to do it!

Talk about disappointment from Kennedy, just be glad you don't have a 94 or later electronic 6.5 as the KD JoKer product mods really won't even come close to the over inflated and flat out bogus claims!
Whatever you do don't get his POS Exhaust, I've read so many posts about the problems; starting with no to poor instructions, extremely difficult installation, and install requiring serious repair equipment and of curse the Kennedy standard poor design and bad fit complete with rattles... and did you know- he was claiming it as a performance system but was selling/shipping it with a construction equipment muffler!!! and claiming it was a "straight thorough" system, but it had a baffle that you were "instructed" to drive out...! Kennedy is one SOB to be avoided that for sure!

I agree GmDieselTech is the best and most honest person on the net to get info and help from in regard to GM Diesels.

thanks for sharing.
DP

ps: in summary I agree order from and you will pay "MORE" and yes it mostly is a "Disappointment", (at best) and I add, if your lucky, it often is worse... a character best avoided.

No, No! My intake and exhaust are the Banks "Stinger"
kit. K&N "Stock replacement" filter. New airbox snorkel,
Exhaust is the 3.5 inch into the Dynamax Muffler, 4.0
inch after muffler, to a 5 inch chrome tip. Mine is a 1993,
so there is no cat.

Many people will probably tell me that I'm a "gluttin for
punishment." in that I will pay more for a "Butique"
exhaust system from Banks and also purchase from
Kennedy. At least I purchased my dual "optima"
batteries from Costco and saved about $60-65! <grin>

I purchased the High-pop Bosh injectors from Kennedy
but I did not purchase the manual fuel injection pump, I
just tweaked the stock one as per Banks instructions. It's
funny, Kennedy will sell you a tweaked unit, but didn't
really tell me how to modify my own, until I told him
about Banks instructions.

I agree with you on most accounts, I just needed to give
my "actual" experience. I felt if I did not say anything
that would be the same as bad mouthing him on my
own.

Hope this helps.

Respectfully,

David M.
