Ok Marty what year Dodge did you buy? I have read horre stories about the 98 cummings fuel pumps, and trany gears comming off. this crap makes me nervious I just bought a dodge 2500 1996 club cab model, it has 157.000 miles on it and it is a 4 speed auto/with Overdrive is this truck going to eat my wallet in repaires?
or will it last like I think it should and my Engine is the 12 valve modle. Ratski the albacorekiller@cox.net

The trans is your worst worry, second is the killer dowel pin. The 12valves dont have lift pump probs like the 98-02 24 valves. I have a 97 and the trans is going to be replaced with a Suncoast setup and while I'm at it I'll do the KDP and timing too. A weath of info is found on turbo diesel registry and diesel truck resource.

First of all, learn how to spell. Second of all, I would not be caught dead in a dodge truck of anykind. Everybody I ever met that had a cummins, wish they had a powerstroke. The powerstrokes have much more torque (that is spelled correctly) and horsepower. I have 150,000 miles on my truck and I did not have to do anything more than normal maintence on my truck. By the way STOP YELLING EVERYBODY YOU IDIOT.

You dont have to have a Dodge to enjoy a Cummins. Besides, how many powerstrokes do you see at sledpulling, drag racing, or any serious motorsports? Not too many! Everyone I talk to hates getting passed by Dodges in their Powerstroke trucks. The big cummins 6 makes more torque at a lower rpm too. Try making 380hp & 900 pounds of torque at the wheels with $750 worth of bolt ons on a P'stroke-I didn't think so. P'stroke is still a good engine, it's just not for me.

PowerStroke is too expensive for too little gain.
A Cummins in a Ford is the ultimate combo. Most, though of coarse not all, people who buy Dodge Diesels are buying the engine wraped in a Dodge, and are not particularly interested in the fact that it is a Mopar rig, or don't care. By the way, in the post above, I know the guy and he is talking about a 12 valve, not the 24. He has one.

first off i thought they were called pussystrokes not powerjokes but anyway i thought i would say i agree with the cummins but not the dodge. i would take the ride quality of a chevy over a dodge any day. plus chevy i have heard is doing alright with there duramax.

I have one of each The cummins kicks ass on power,
i like the ride of the ford but the engine is a money pit. the chevy doesnt ride smooth like they do in half tons its probaly the worst ride of the three but that duramax sure kicks the powerjokes ass but still is no match to a cummins...
