Hi all,
Any help will be greatly appreciated. I've been stationed in Korea for 2 years and my RV (cummins diesel) has been sitting with the same fuel in it. It started right up and then quit. I drained the fuel/water separator and a lot sludge keeps coming out. What should I do? Drain the fuel and put new fuel in it? Will that work or is there more involved. Again, any help will be much appreciated.

Rick

With diesels fuel quality is important. I would at minimum drain the fuel, replace with fresh, replace your filters and belts.

If the vehicle has not been started in a long time the fuel could have leaked out of the fuel system causing it to be airlocked. No diesel can run on air, so it will need to be bled. Not sure on the procedure for a Cummins, but basically it will involve cranking the engine with either an injector cracked or with the petcock on the filter cracked. You'll need nice fresh batteries to accomplish this. On a GM you can disconnect the glow plugs, to extend your cranking time, not sure about the Cummins.
