I am thinking of buying another truck and I was leaning towards a dodge diesel. My wife says no as the 2001 are too noisy. So I have no turned my attention to another GMC. I have heard rumors that the duramax have bad injectors and they are very expensive to replace. What years are good and what should a guy keep an eye out for?

Yes the 24 valves do rattle a bit up too 2002, in 2003 and up they were a lot quieter. But I would jump to 2005-2006 if I was going to get one.
Duramax I think you would be good in the 2004 -2006 range, although they had a few small problems.

I'd avoid the Duramax with the LLY engine Model year 2004.5 and 2005. The 2006 LLY is really a detuned LBZ and is fine. 2004 and earlier LB7 is the one with the injector issues but most problems have been ironed out. There is an extended warranty, but they are starting to run past the end now, Good filtration and fuel additives go a long way towards improving reliability.
Only problem with the Dodge is the engine comes in a Dodge... ;)
