I have 1994 chev. 3500 6.5 diesel, the truck has 135,000 miles,sometimes the engine just turns over and will not try to start.may come back a day later and the engine will fire on the first try. it does not seem to make a difference if it is cold or hot. any suggestions

First thing to do is confirm the glow plugs are operating correctly and the lift pump is running when the starter is cranking.

Next, check for diagnostic codes.
