7.3 will not start cold but will start after block heater.

This 7.3 has new glow plugs. Glow plugs are heating. Engine sounds like 1 or 2 cyl. firing and wanting to start. If I plug in the block heater over night it starts right way. Replaced oil presure sensor, Cam sensor, at this point I'm hunting. Can anybody give me some suggestions and sould I have the engine scaned?

How cold is it outside? Thats part of what the block heater is for to aid in startup on cold mornings. How many miles are on the engine? If it doesnt hold good compression it will be difficult to fire cold.

Bad engine

I found what was wrong. The preveous owner hauled steel and ran the engine to hard overheating and destroying one of the two rear cylinder banks. This explans why the engine seams as it has a miss in it and it ues oil and smokes blue. Also when you open the oil filler cap while it's running you will see puffs of smoke in time with the firing of a cylinder. Any powerstroke people out there are recomended to install an exaust gas temprature gauge to make sure you don't run the engine to hard and burn up a piston and cylinder.
