Hello! I have a 1985 Ford F-350 with a 6.9 liter diesel engine. I just purchased the truck and it runs well... One problem I am having is that occasionally when I turn the key the starter engages and spins making a sound like when you try to start a car that is running....It is not spinning the flywheel but grinding.. Usually after 2 tries it engages... The starter appears to be new.... Any help with the diagnosis would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much..Marc

Sounds like u either have a bad starter or a bad spot in ur flywheel, more than likey it is the starter.
