Dodge throttle pedel

Postby cobby » Mon Jan 11, 2010 10:08 am

I have a 2001 dodge 2500 with the 5.9. I was driving out to get fuel tonight and the truck started acting up. I lost all power and the engine light came on. The truck would only idle. If I stepped on the throttle there was no response. I turned it off and restarted and still nothing just idle. Well I thought I would limp home then so I put it in 3rd and let it get some speed then fourth and now it started to sputter but then the throttle started to work again. The engine light remained on but I was able to now drive it so I went to Flying J's to fill up. The truck only has about 1/2 of its power but at least I can drive it. I then went to my my buddies place to get my WII game fixed and was there about an hour or so. When I came out and started the truck up the engine light was out and it appears to be back to normal???? The code is Po121 which indicates the TPS. My question is, Can it be taken apart and fixed or cleaned or do I have to bite the bullet and buy a new one as these are very expensive. This happed 3 days ago and the truck does appear to be back to normal but I am worried it could happen again and never come back.

TPS sensors are replacable only, cannot take apart. And around here they cost about $475.
