'93 6.5TD stalls after hot start-up. No PMD module

Postby Red Dwarf » Mon Sep 04, 2006 5:30 pm

I have a 1993 6.5TD pickup. It starts and runs fine when started from cold, but when it is hot and has been turned off for 30 to 90 minutes it starts up fine, but cuts out after about 15 seconds and then takes 3 or 4 crankings to get it started again. After sitting for longer that a couple of hours it starts and runs fine.
I am not much of a mechanic, but have been told that my vehicle does not have a PMD module.
The truck has done 150k but had new injectors and pump about 65k ago.

Please help as this has been going on for quite a while and is very frustrating.

Sounds like maybe an air leak some where. If it is cold the fuel is thicker so it mite be small enough that it just leaks when the fuel is thin. Then I may be full of sh*t too. Just a thought, you may want to check it out.

Good Luck

I found out that the fuel supply pump was not working, and was about to buy a new pump when a local mechanic suggested that I change the oil sender unit first, as power to the supply pump is routed via the oil sender.
Well a new oil sender seems to have done the trick. No more stalling, and one happy owner!!!
