93 GMC 3500 6.5td Exhaust please help

Postby noleafofclover » Sat Nov 14, 2009 1:09 pm

Hello All,

My first time here, and I was wondering if anyone knows anything about exhaust systems for 6.5td.
I currently have stock down pipe into 3 inch piping with Magnaflow strait trough muffler. But the problem is the pipes are not mandrel bent, but pressure bent. My question is: is it worth upgrading to 4" exhaust system from Warpspeed, or its waste of money. I don't know if its going to benefit my truck, I mean its not as powerful as other hight torque and horsepower engines. I was talking to a guy, and he said that 4" is too big for my truck, and it will hurt more than help, the flow I mean. I' m sorry just money is tight this days, as we all know, and if its not beneficial to swap than I wont do it. So please if you have any experience in this give me some feedback. Thank you very much.

There is no such thing as "too big" in the Diesel world. There is, however, a law of diminishing returns. With a stock '93 that comes around 4 inches. However, the stock downpipe is usually badly banged up. A mandrel bent replacement is a good place to start. 3" press bent piping is less than optimal.
